Account Deletion.
You can delete your Ricasso account at any time. This page describes both deletion paths, what gets removed, what may be retained for security or legal reasons, and how subscription cancellation works. This page implements the deletion process described in our Privacy Policy § 9 and Terms of Service § 3.4; where wording disagrees, those formal documents control.
Two Ways To Delete
Path A — In-App Deletion (recommended)
If you can still access the Ricasso mobile app on your device, the in-app process is the fastest deletion path and confirms your identity automatically.
- 1.Open the Ricasso app on iOS or Android.
- 2.Tap the SETTINGS tab.
- 3.Scroll to the ACCOUNT section.
- 4.Tap DELETE ACCOUNT.
- 5.Confirm the deletion in the modal that appears.
The app will sign you out and run the deletion routine in the background. The signed-in account, vault records, photos, and proof-of-purchase images are removed from production servers; see What Gets Deleted.
Path B — Web Request (if you can't access the app)
If you have uninstalled the app, lost device access, or otherwise cannot use the in-app path, send a deletion request by email. Use the same email address associated with your Ricasso account.
Email: privacy@ricasso.app
Subject: Account Deletion Request
In your message, please confirm:
- The email address tied to your Ricasso account (if different from the sender address).
- That you are the account owner and authorize deletion.
We may need to verify your identity before processing the request, particularly if the request comes from an email address that does not match the account on file. We will not process a deletion request without reasonable verification.
What Gets Deleted
When deletion runs, the Ricasso backend is designed to remove the following from production systems:
- Your Firebase Auth account (email, display name, password credential, UID).
- Your Firestore documents under the user path (vault records, knife records, event ledger entries scoped to your account, account settings, and related personal records).
- Your Firebase Storage files under the user path (photos, proof-of-purchase images, image variants, thumbnails).
- Certain orphaned event-ledger references that point only to your deleted records.
What May Be Retained And Why
Some information is not removed immediately on deletion, either because it is required for security, legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or platform-compliance reasons, or because it lives in third-party systems Ricasso does not control. This is consistent with industry practice and applicable law.
| Category | Why It May Be Retained | Typical Lifecycle |
|---|---|---|
| Backups | Operational disaster recovery; cannot be selectively scrubbed without compromising backup integrity. | Backups age out per Google Cloud / Firebase defaults; deletion is reflected in newer backups as the older ones expire. |
| Logs | Security, debugging, fraud prevention, abuse investigation, rate-limit enforcement, audit. | Cloud Function and Cloud Logging retention defaults; some admin activity logs retained up to 400 days. |
| Subscription Records | Apple App Store and Google Play hold subscription, receipt, and entitlement records under their own retention policies. Ricasso receives obfuscated receipt data, not card numbers. | Per Apple and Google retention policies; Ricasso cannot delete records held by app stores on your behalf. |
| Tax / Accounting | Required for tax filings, financial audits, and recordkeeping obligations. | Retained per applicable U.S. tax and accounting requirements (typically 7 years for transactional records). |
| Support Communications | Customer service history, dispute records, and bug-report context. | Retained per support-system retention defaults; may be redacted on request. |
| Legal & Compliance Records | DMCA notices, trademark complaints, privacy requests, deletion requests themselves, legal holds, or records relevant to actual or threatened legal proceedings. | Retained as long as reasonably necessary for the legal purpose; deletion-request metadata may be retained to prove the deletion occurred. |
| Aggregate / Anonymized Data | Counts, performance metrics, or other data not reasonably associated with you as an individual. | May be retained indefinitely. |
Subscription Cancellation
Deletion of your Ricasso account does not automatically cancel an active Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, and only Apple or Google can cancel them on your behalf.
- iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Ricasso → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Google Play Store → Profile → Payments & Subscriptions → Subscriptions → Ricasso → Cancel Subscription.
If you delete your Ricasso account without canceling an active subscription, you may continue to be billed through Apple or Google until you cancel through their settings. The Founding Lifetime Collector entitlement, if you purchased one, is a one-time non-recurring purchase and does not require subscription cancellation, though access ceases on account deletion.
Export Before You Delete
Account deletion is irreversible. If you want a copy of your records first, the Ricasso app supports CSV export of certain vault data. Open the app, go to SETTINGS → ACCOUNT → EXPORT MY VAULT, and download the CSV before initiating deletion. Photos, proof-of-purchase images, cached comparable data, UPC cache entries, system logs, and certain other categories may not be included in CSV export; see Terms § 29.2.
Timeline And Confirmation
Active production deletion is typically processed promptly after your request is received and verified. Backups, app-store records, and other retained categories age out on their own schedules as described above.
For web requests via privacy@ricasso.app, we will respond within a reasonable timeframe and, where applicable state law requires, within the timelines set out in the Privacy Rights Summary Notice. You will receive an email confirmation when the deletion routine has run on production systems.
Merchandise Store Accounts
The Ricasso merchandise storefront at shop.ricasso.app is a separate Shopify-powered surface with its own account system. Deleting your Ricasso app account does not automatically delete a separate merchandise store account or order history. To delete a Shopify storefront account or request deletion of merchandise customer records, contact privacy@ricasso.app with the email address used for the merchandise purchase.
Minors
Ricasso is intended for adult United States users at launch and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a minor has created a Ricasso account, please email privacy@ricasso.app and we will process deletion on a priority basis.
Changes To This Page
We may update this page from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Material changes to the deletion process will be announced through the Ricasso app, by email, or through other reasonable means.
